Vernon Kemp

Dance played a major part of his childhood starting with Tap at four and a half years of age. Ballet became the main emphasis although Ballroom, Latin and Sequence were added later (at about 10 years old!). At 18 major decisions had to be made whether to teach or perform, and becoming a dance examiner was already a dream.

Two Associates (Teaching Examinations) were achieved before embarking on an Honours degree in Geography and Education and immediately after graduation full time teaching ensued first in the north of England and then in London.

Until recently Vernon taught and ran a highly successful school in fashionable Marylebone village. He has recently sold this to give even more time to teach, examine and adjudicate.

All levels of dancers have been trained from total beginners to World Champions, famous stars and even royalty. He coaches and guides choreographers for film work, also advising on historical context. He has helped the fabulous same-sex couple The Sugar Dandies on their funniest shows, together with TV adverts, fashion shows, showcases etc. Teacher training is an important facet of his work and teachers he has trained here in London now teach all over the world.
